FOR 30 MINUTES I'D LIKE TO BE: Michael Jordan because I’ve always wanted to know what it feels like to be the ultimate competitor and champion. Jordan is someone I admire because he is both athletically gifted and his competitive and positive attitude drive him to the point where he will seldom lose.
When it comes to near perfection, this month’s scholar athlete is never willing to strive for anything but the best. Cary High School’s Zack Schilawski is this month’s scholar athlete not only because he ranks number two in his class and plans to attend Wake Forest University in the fall. Zack is highly determined to succeed in every walk of life.
He’s described as a consummate scholar on the academic front. Though he’s undecided about his career path in the future, he has a current passion for his favorite subject, AP history.
In his spare time, he represents his school as President of the National Honor Society. In the past, he’s served on the student council both his sophomore and junior years.
Athletically, Schilawski’s coach simply says this, “Zack is the best player to ever wear a Cary High School Soccer Uniform.”
Though he’s modest about his athletic accomplishments, he's widely recognized as both a statewide and conference leader for his outstanding play for all four years of his varsity career. During his illustrious 4-year varsity career, he’s lead the Imp’s to the highest level of success while scoring 78 goals, with 33 assists. And, he’s a high school Academic All American. He’s earned both All-State and All-Region 1st team honors and has been praised for his ability to be both a scorer and team leader.
