Beware of the following FDIC/FBI Scam
Credit Union members are receiving email messages from individuals pretending to be FDIC/FBI agents. These criminals are illegally seeking account information, claiming failure to provide such information puts your deposit insurance in jeopardy.
This email was NOT sent by the FDIC and is a fraudulent attempt to obtain personal information from consumers. Do NOT provide such information under any circumstances.
You may be the victim of identity theft if you have already provided this information.
- Report this immediately to the Coastal Federal Credit Union’s Risk Management Team (email: idhelp@coastalfcu.org, call 919-420- 8102 or 420-8282).
- Contact the fraud department at Equifax, one of the three major credit bureaus immediately. www.equifax.com or call 1-800-525-6285.
- Report this or similar attempts to the FDIC at alert@fdic.gov
