New Phishing attempt targeted at Coastal

There is a new phishing attempt targeted at Coastal. It asks the viewer to fill out a short survey and it will deposit $20 in your account. All you have to do is provide your account information (login name and password) and your credit card information and pin number.

Obviously this is a phishing attempt as Coastal would never send a member an email asking for all of their information.

What is Phishing?
Phishing is a malicious attack using social engineering to steal private information from a user. This illegal activity is usually attempted through email and its goal is to obtain a user's account information and/or password. For more information, please visit our Phishing and Vishing Web page. Below is a sample of a phishing email that links to this site and a small screenshot of the site. If you put your mouse over the link called "Click here" it actually leads you to a site that is not ours. We have blurred out the first part of the link, but the end of the link is called www.coastalfcu.org in order to trick someone into thinking that it is our site. The full link looked something like this: example-http://www.***phishingsite***.com/www.coastalfcu.org.

The site uses Coastal colors and even has the Coastal logo above (not visible in this screenshot). We have had this phishing Web site shut down.
