National Business Registration Scam

The North Carolina Secretary of State's office has issued a warning to businesses in North Carolina to be aware of a "Registration Scam". The so-called "National Business Registration Corporation" is mailing letters titled "Important Final Notice" to North Carolina businesses in an effort to collect $487.00 on the false premise that the businesses are required to register in order to be compliant with the USA Patriot Act.

The Secretary of State assures these businesses that no such governmental registry exists, and that these letters are an attempt to fraudulently obtain funds.
